Hey. I have tried everything in order to fix this issue. When I am on my PC, everything just freezes. I cannot move my mouse or type, and the screen is frozen. I tried sfc /scannow, no results. Did a registry clean, no luck. I restored my PC MULTIPLE times, and I still get freezes. I also got a replacement CPU, MB, & HDD, all of which work fine. I actually thought it fixed because my PC was running fine for 10 minutes, but then froze. Whats wrong??

PC SPECS:
AMD FX6300 @ Stock
GSkill Ripjaws X 8 GB 1866 @ Stock
HIS Radeon HD 7870 Iceq GHz Edition @ Stock
Seagate Barracuda 1 TB 7200 RPM Bare Drive
NZXT Phantom 410 midtower
XFX PRO550W PSU
ASUS M5A97 LE R2.0
Windows 8.1 64 Bit

Hello friend.
Since you have already tried some things, psu, ram and gpu are the next things to try and check. Its not the m/b, cpu or hdd and its not software related. I'd guess it's a gpu issue, but its only a guess, perhaps somebody more experienced can help you more.

Does it freeze in safe mode?

I have tested RAM in every slot, one stick at a time. Everything is recognized. As for PSU and GPU, I have had my PC working for 3 months, and this happened before but I fixed it somehow. I cannot remember how, but it cannot be those components if they were working fine before hardware changes.

I have been on safe mode for a few minutes, and it seems like it is not freezing.

UPDATE: I ran a 3D Application (game) to see if my GPU would make it crash, and it worked perfectly with great framerate. My GPU drivers are updated, so I don't see how the GPU can cause this.

It seems to be a driver issue if this stays like that.
Update all drivers, also for the motherboard.Start with the chipset drivers.
Also maybe update the bios when you don't have the latest version.
Make sure that the ram is working at the rated speed, timings and voltage.

It only freezes? No bsod?

Where can I find all of these drivers for my components? I'm no expert on finding all of these. I just now updated my BIOS, and checked RAM frequencies, timings, and voltages. So, this is no hardware issue?

For the motherboard drivers look here,
https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/M5A97_LE_R20/HelpDesk...
choose your o.s. and look carefully at the 32/64 bit part.
For the gpu drivers look here,
http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx

If it runs normal in safe mode can i only assume that it isn't although in that case won't the gpu get really used to it's full potential.

Where do I go on the ASUS website from there in order to find my motherboard driver?

Installed those drivers, it still freezes. Sometimes, I cannot even enter the login screen.

It still runs fine in safe mode?

Are there ? or ! in device manager?

Open either msconfig or task manager and look for programs that start up with window (this is different between w7 and w8),disable all programs that don't belong to windows, after that enable them again one by one to see if there's one that makes this happen.
For every new program restarted will you have to restart the pc to see how it affects it.
Do this disabeling in safe mode if it runs fine then.

It still runs fine in Safe Mode. I have tried a clean boot, and no luck.

Yes, my brother's GPU, but he doesn't want me messing his computer up with my "cursed" computer which has had a CPU, MB, case, and hard drive replaced.

I tested the GPU under load (games) and it does not appear to crash.

It's getting harder and harder to think of something.

Still back to the drivers, delete the old drivers for the gpu with either of the next tools and get new one installed,
http://www.guru3d.com/files_details/display_driver_unin...
or
http://treexy.com/products/driver-fusion
it's best to do this in safe mode so the drivers aren't used.
make sure you get the right drivers from the next site,
http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx

Say thanks to your brother btw,it's just about getting his gpu in your system, not some other way around.

No luck. I noticed a yellow triangle by Generic PNP Monitor in device manager.

Did your monitor come with a driver cd? Use those to see if it resolves this.Otherwise right click the monitor and choose "update drivers".

Don't think it has anything to do with your problem, but it's good to take care of it.

If i think of anything else will i let you know.

Just wondering, when you said to thank my brother, did you think that I tried a different GPU? I did not. lol
