hello.
i was thinking of upgrading my video cards from 2xHD7870's to a gtx 780 (im still contemplating if i should wait until the 800 series(please let me know if you know any info on this)). the reason for upgrade is that I hate crossfire and wanted something more powerful. (I now hate AMD sooo much, there the shittest company and will never recommend them)
but my question is - can a gtx 780 still run at its full potential on PCI-E 2.0? I have a Asrock Z77 Extreme4 + i7 2600 (sandybridge). if not, then by how much? and if you can possibly answer: what about the 800 series? do you think i would be able to handle them?

Solution
yes. at most there will be a 1-3 percent difference between 2.0 and 3.0 with a 780. not a problem.

will handle the 800 series as well. 2.0 isnt even close to dead.

where we will first see problems is running sli and crossfire, when 2.0 is running at x8. we arent even seeing a problem there yet though. plenty of bandwidth left on the ol' 2.0 bus.
