After my pc with windows xp had crashed i decided to wipe the hard drive and do a clean install of windows 7. Everything works but the sound.

The sound icon at the bottom right says "No audio output device is installed". If i go to device manager theres the yellow symbol at
"Multimedia audio controller". So clearly i need a driver.

Searching for drivers through the device manager didnt work.

My pc is a Dell Dimension 9200 (989HL2J). I went to the Dell website (http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/product-support/servicetag/989HL2J/drivers?DCP=DndTag) but cant find any windows 7 drivers there. So i decided to try the sound drivers for windows vista (32 bit) but they didnt work.

My last resort was googling it but after 2 hours of downloading a lot of useless rubbish im losing all hope.

I hope anyone can help me.

Creative Labs Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeMusic http://support.creative.com/Products/ProductDetails.aspx?catID=1&subCatID=208&prodID=14066&prodName=X-Fi%20XtremeMusic&subCatName=X-Fi%20Series&CatName=Sound+Blaster&VARSET=prodfaq:pRODFAQ_14066,VARSET=CategoryID:1

For the Sigmatel drivers : I hope this helps, download the original xp driver from dell, save it to desktop, then right click / properties / compatibility / check mark "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and select Windows Vista + OK, now it will run properly after unzip and you should have your audio back. Good luck !
