I have a S56CA laptop with a 750GB HDD and a 24GB SSD as a boot drive. I want to upgrade my current 750GB SpinPoint to a 1TB Blue Bare Drive. According to disk management and a partition management software, my 24GB SSD is empty with 2 partitions. Is this normal? Shouldn't there be some windows files in there? And also to upgrade, would I just fully mirror my current drive onto the new one? I have a desktop with numerous drive bays so space and hardware shouldn't be an issue.

So your sure that the drive is only populated temporarily at boot up to speed things up, and it's supposed to stay empty during use, so I can just copy the whole drive onto the new one right?

Its a hybrid drive meaning the SSD and the HDD is integrated into a single physical drive. You may refer it here: http://www.seagate.com/internal-hard-drives/laptop-hard-drives/laptop-solid-state-hybrid-drive/

I have done the SSD swap on this ultrabook and it works great.....First I backed up all my pics, music...etc. Second, I did a system recovery. Once it was finished, I cloned my 500 gig HDD using the trial software that came with my Crucial 256 GB SSD, Acronis True Image 2014.It was all pretty easy. Hope this helps someone. The Second drive (24 GB) is built into the MB I would say and is only used Either as cache or Recovery or maybe both. But if you follow these steps, you'll be in good shape.
