Paying for help with build

Hi all,

After getting a lot of help and feedback on these forums, I recently completed my first ever computer build. (You can see the specs here: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/3oBKJ)

But, probably not too surprising, I've put the computer together and it does not work. Looking to pay someone in NYC who can trouble shoot this for me and see if they can get it to work, or if I broke anything. Let me know. I've maxed out my own trouble shooting.

Thanks everyone, Paolo

Thanks, appreciate it. I actually watched that video, plus this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ea_bs5G1yYU&safe=active, to help me build. Also used that trouble shooting sheet. Great info, thanks for providing.

As it turns out though, there are a lot of little things not directly addressed in video or mobo product guide. For example, do I need to install standoff in my corsair unit? If so, how and where? I only have four stand off screws, but more than four possible holes, with no directions that I can find on how or where to install. There are a number of items with this issue. Sometimes there is only one option, but other times, multiple options. So I'm just not sure how to proceed.

Ok. I'm pretty sure my case, the Corsair 400r, already has standoff screws in case, fitted exactly for the Asus P9X79 ATX LGA2011. I'm trying to confirm 100% but I think that's how it is.

Yah, so at this time, the cpu fan is not turning on. My offer still stands. If anyone is in nyc area and wants to take a look in person and feels confident they can get it running, or diagnose it, I'm willing to pay $100.

Ahh, ok. My apologies. Thanks for the heads up.

I do believe everything is connected properly. I did a test build and things worked. Now, at least, the CPU fan will not turn on, though I believe it is connected.

I'm reading and researching.

Hi tiny voices,

So did another external test build.

CPU fans, GFX fans, and power supply fans all running. DRAM LED stays on. Manual says that means problem. PWR LED, TPU LED, and EPU LEDs all on and manual says they should be. CPU LEF blinks once then goes off. I think that's normal. BOOT DEVICE LED and VGA LED do not blink or come on at all. Manual says they should blink. Any suggestions, advice, or pointers here?

Thanks again for your time and information, it is appreciated.

Paolo

I'm not sure what you mean by POST, but haven't yet hooked it to screen while doing external build because I thought I should trouble shoot the LEDs first. Will try with the screen tomorrow.

Ok, tried hooking to the monitor, and still did not get it to boot. Nothing happens on the monitor, like I've seen in build videos. The monitor just quickly flashes "VGA No Signal" and nothing more. Then goes black.

Thanks tiny voices.

Had a guy come over yesterday and take a look. He was able to get it to boot and run outside of case. We even installed Windows. But when I put it in case today, DRAM led light stays on. I'm just completely in the dark here as to what might be the issue. Any ideas?

FYI, I can boot unit outside the case, either by shorting power or using power ground connecter. When in case, I can only get it to run by shorting power ground. But then it gets hung up on DRAM LED. It will not even power on if I use the power ground plug. Hmm...

I don't know much about this, but agree with your sentiment here. And appreciate your time and information through all this. Ultimately, because I could not isolate issue, wanted to RMA all of them to make sure. The case holds the power ground plug that plugs into mobo. Mobo would power on when I manually shorted, or used power ground outside of case. When in case, mobo would not power on with with power ground plug provided, but would if I shorted it. That is one example of an issue I couldn't 100% attribute to one item or another. So RMA'ing all three.
