My little brother had bought this gaming rig from Walmart's IBUYPOWER around 2 years ago for the price of roughly $750. It seems to run any game fine at high settings and he uses it daily.

Basically, I want to know what I can build today with the same budget of $750, that would outperform this PC(assuming gaming is my primary reason for building a PC, I don't plan to overclock):

-iBUYPOWER NZXT Source 210 USB 3.0 Gaming Chassis, Red;
-AMD Radeon HD 7770 1GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 Graphics Card;
-1TB 7200RPM Hard Disk Drive;
-24X DVD+/-RW DL Optical Drive;
-Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium,
-64-Bit Edition;
-8GB G.Skill Ripjaws;
-Intel Core i3-3220

I want to have a good comparison point before I start to buy each component.

Good to know =D Yeah I'll be needing an OS, as all I've heard of is Linux other than the OS Macs use. He keeps suggesting Intel CPU's and AMD Radeon for Graphics cards, so I'm trying to see if someone can convince me of an alternative or otherwise support his argument for my budget also.

As far as I know, I'm almost certain you would need windows to get the best gaming experience. I can post a build with windows 8.1 or 7 if you want.

Yes please^^ A build with Windows 7 would be ideal over Windows 8 due to some negative user feedback I keep hearing about.

Thanks for the nice build^ Would it make much of a difference (performance-wise), if I were to replace that AMD CPU for an Intel i5? I suppose I'd have to stretch my budget by a little more if I did though.

You would see a difference in fps, but honestly not by much. You could get a locked i5 though if you want to go intel.

What's a locked i5? Sorry, I'm not too knowledgeable on CPU differences or terminology.

Basically an i5 that can't be overclocked, such as an i5 4670, 4440, 4430, etc. They are denoted by 4xxx and the only unlocked i5 of haswell has a k behind it, the 4670k.

Ah so that's what they meant^^ Thanks. As you can see, I'm a bit biased towards Intel processors because I keep hearing they offer the best performance in the market. Every little bit of info helps.
