Ok so I've been thinking about trying out Windows 8 and I'm wondering if it's possible for my setup. I have used the Windows Update Assistant and with a few software problems it's telling me that I'm ok with using Windows 8.0/8.1. I've also read on the Asus forums that most people have done this with next to no problems at all but the one problem that I'm wondering about that I don't see is my Raid Drivers and the Chipset Drivers when you do a fresh install.

Asus has decided not to support Windows 8 for this mobo since it's what they consider to be past it's lifespan. I however feel that my mobo/cpu for just fine for what I do and need and don't feel that a upgrade is needed.

I've read that some if not all the drivers/programs from Asus for Windows 7 can be ran in Compatibility Mode which I assume you just right click on the Driver/Program and click on it. I've never had to do this at all so I'm not sure if that's all that needs to be done. Also there's run as admin to consider at the same time if that even applies anymore.

So currently I'm running my Asus P7P55D-E Pro with a Intel Core I7 860. Using the Asus TurboV EVO for overclocking. Have a Asus Xonar DG. Running 2 Western Digital WD Black WD5001AALS 500GB in Raid 0 as my OS.

I have other of course hardware and parts but don't think they'll be a issue. I don't use a tablet yet and not sure if I ever will as well.

Solution
That motherboard uses an ICH10R RAID controller, therefore it should be supported. Asus don't support Windows 8.1 on the P5W DH Deluxe, but it runs fine (except for RAID because Intel RST doesn't support the ICH7R, but AHCI is included in the OS).

Ok so do I just use the drivers like usual or does Windows 8 see it or what.

I haven't tested it with RAID as I don't need it. The RAID should be supported without additional drivers, but I won't test it. You'll know if it's detected as soon as you boot from the DVD (array detected as a large drive or 2 hard diks detected if drivers are not included).

Old post & different board, but to help others...
I am running 8.1 and RAID is fine using slightly older Intel iRST driver 11.7.0.1013
anything newer causes problems according to Intel support (true for me as well.)
Using win7 drivers in compat mode for chipset, nic & Jmicron is fine,
I'm using nVidia's version w8 drivers for my GPU. All Good BUT temp monitor s/w.

Sound was not as easy on my P7P55D Deluxe MB without W8-64 AUDIO DRIVERS.
All the drivers work to play sound but some issues exist...

.Microsoft included driver works but prevents sleeping & no software/features.
.w7 driver from Asus: HD Deck wont run in any compat mode yet driver allows sleep.
.same using VIA VT2020S driver, except O/S compat error on 1st reboot only, 2nd goes.

So be prepared to override "audio stream in use" if you want to auto sleep - sometimes it works
and must be re-done often - my only major issue in over a year of running win8.1.
