Hi. I own a dell optiplex 9010 i5 3470 4gb ram version. Nvidia claimed that the gtx 750 was perfect for gaming on such dells and hps. So i wanted to know if a gtx 750 will work. Also how about an r7 250x or r7 250.

Power Supply is 275 watt with 17 Amp rail

Any single fan design GTX 750 and GTX 750 TI will easy, dual fan might fit as well, however I don't know measurements from the back panel to hard drive cage, if you can measure I would be greatly appreciated. So far I was able to fin out that those 2 dual fan cards should fit according to measurements posted on newegg (it was reported that 9.25 inch card fit OK)

EVGA 01G-P4-2757-KR GeForce GTX 750 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814487034
If newegg screwed up with numbers, well....

Power Supply. Any ATX...
First check which one is yours

optiplex-desktop-9010-overview3.jpg

From left to right models are: USFF, SFF, DT, MT.

Second, what is the purpose of your upgrade, what games and on what settings (medium or high or ultra) you want?

Are you ready to invest in power supply upgrade if necessary?

And finally, where do you live, USA, Europe or else, any retailer is OK? And last question, taking all the above into consideration, what is your budget before taxes and shipping?

Anything else I can help you with?

Power Supply. Any ATX PSU will fit. If you want manufacturer recommended wattage follow this guide line http://forum-en.msi.com/faq/article/power-requirements-for-graphics-cards
For the trustworthiness/durability of PSU follow this guide http://eggxpert.com/eggxpert/computer_hardware/f/135081/t/45344.aspx

I have got an HD 5450 in here. Does this mean a GTX 750 will fit?? And i wanted to ask that if...........if i get a new MOBO will the ram from my current dell work. All i know its 4gb at 1600 mhz i think. Its not branded. And will a cx430 work and fit> Any wiring problems? any additional info will be nice. Im getting this because i wanted to PC game also but didnt want to spend like 700$ on a whole new build but just upgrade this pc for a taste. OH 1 more thing! i want to get 8gb ram because i have been editing on this PC and the graphics card slows me down....... but the ram also does. So what ram maybe compatible with this MOBO and the stick i already have? cuz i want another 4gb stick not A new 8 gb stick. Thank you very much for your previous answer and thanks in advance :)

First question or statement. If you take new motherboard, you will need new copy of Windows, since Dell copy is connected to Dell motherboard.

Now, what is your budget for video card and power supply combined, before taxes and shipping.

Last question, which games you are talking about?

Your turn.

Leave everything.................................... Just answer this question........whats better...............buy a gtx 750 and a PSU for about 150$....(OR) sellling my dell and adding 100$ or something and building a whole new gaming pc. BTW how much will this sell for. I dont need OS............ill pirate. My budget is 150$ or lower. I also wanted to ask is the r7 250 good? cuz cheaper the better. And ill just be playing minecraft with shaders......maybe far cry 3.... goat simulator......... old call of duty games and all that fun exclusive to pc stuff

Just a thought and suggestion.

You have i5 3470 Quad with benchmark of 6573 and I have AMD Phenom II X4 965 BE overclocked with current benchmark around 5100, add to this GTX 660 from MSI, now I am able to play Battlefield 4 on high settings, Far Cry 3 on almost Ultra, Battlefield 3 was everything ULTRA etc.

Why do you need new build? You need stronger video card and this is it.

Now, considering what I just said above, do you still want the most for your buck below $150?

I know there is GTX 750 and maybe even GTX 750 TI, which will work on in your PC without upgrading PSU (GTX 750TI require 60 watt only) for under $150 before taxes and shipping, would you consider that?

Your turn.

P.S. If you go with even stronger card, you can do much more, but more money...

You sure a GTX 750 or GTX 750 Ti will work with my current PSU. Its a 275 watt no 80+. Thats one question
------------------------
Ok getting a new PC is all out of my mind. But because i want to video edit, render, photoshop i need more ram. So will a 4 gb ram stick of any brand of 1600 mhz work with my current 4 gigs to give me 8 gb? or Will this ram wont work with others and i need to change it? Will 8gb ram work with my mobo?

I understand your concern with PSU, however it was tested multiple times with HD 6670 and HD 7750, both have manufacturer PSU requirements at or above 300-400 watt, however both kinds were reported perfect for many Dells, I seen one confirmation of Sapphire HD 7750 low profile working on 165 watt HP PC, so it will work.

Here is one of the choices, I like it because of the close design, so hot air will be exhausted out, not stay inside the case, and good reviews, price is only concern EVGA 02G-P4-3751-KR GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB 128-Bit GDDR5 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814487025

Amazon has free shipping http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-Dual-Link-Graphics-02G-P4-3751-KR/dp/B00IDG3PRI

Now regarding RAM (memory).

You can go up to 32 GB

However, it would be beneficial to save what you already have, so install CPUZ http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html

Go to SPD tab and get this info

Module size - check all slots, so you can say: 2X2GB, or 4X1GB (you said you have 4 GB RAM)
Max Bandwidth: just wright exactly as it written there
Manufacturer
Part Number - it would be very beneficial to add identical memory to avoid issues

Then we can find the most appropriate one.

Your turn.
