i have seagate portable external drive 500GB. it was working fine since i bought it but recently i found problems connecting it to my laptop. i tried too many things as suggested in the different related blogs but not worth. the drive is visible in device manager but not in 'my computer'. i tried uninstalling it from device manager, then rebooted the system and again connected, then the system showed "device driver software installed successfully" still the drive is not detectable. what to do please help... as i have a lot many important files on it .. i'm afraid of loosing them.. pls pls pls help... One more thing i would like to add is that the drive had almost 15GB empty space left on it,,can this be reason for its un-responsiveness????

It's possible that the controller in the enclosure is failing. See if you can take the drive out and put it in another enclosure.
