Okay, so I feel like an idiot. I shouldn't have marked my other thread as solved. I thought it was but it wasn't. I'm sorry to make another thread.

"I've never come across this issue before in the years I've been using Windows 7 but recently (the last week) when I open 'My Computer' from the start menu, it never loads.
I can open Windows Explorer but I can only view files in my libraries and the previews do not work.
I have just done a fresh install, and reloaded everything I need and it is still happening / happening again.
Does anyone have any ideas? Your advice is greatly appreciated as this is pretty much unusable like this and I thought re-installing windows would fix it...

"Download Speedfan and use the S.M.A.R.T. utility that comes with it to check the health of your PC (click perform in-depth online analysis after testing your hard drive). It sounds like your hard drive is starting to fail.

Which I did, and discovered that one of my drives "has 65533 offline uncorrectable sectors (this value is very large and your hard disk should be replaced)".
I have since removed the drive which presented errors from the system but the problem persists
