Are HD7970 Water Blocks Compatible with the R9 280X?

Not unless the product description says that it's compatible. Water blocks are sometimes made to fit a specific model line and you may see a block fit the 7950 and 7970 or the 7850 and 7870. It will be better to see if the 280 and 280x are compatible then the 7970 and 280x. If you have a 7970 water block then it would be a good idea to go to the manufacturers web site and see if it states what models it will fit. If the info is not listed then an email to tech support will get you the answer.

This water block states that it will fit both the 7970 and the 280x. If you could give some more info on what you have and what your upgrading to it would be helpful.
