MY hard drive died epicly. I had to replace the hard drive long story short I can't read the last 7 characters on my product key label on the bottom of my machine when I contacted the manufacture (Sony) they refuse to give me the remaining characters instead they want me to purchase another disk for $76.15 + shipping. I think this is total robbery. I verified everything they asked proving my purchase was authentic but they're trying to capitialize on an already costly mishap. Suggestions please. And kindly keep snarky comments to yourself. Thanks

The windows code? Do you have the backup disks it has you make when you first get it? (if it is old enough it came with them)

1. Without the full license key, you are out of luck
2. You should have created the recovery set when the PC was new
3. While IMHO Sony charging you $76.15 is far too much, that is what they are charging. You only other alternative is simply a new copy of Windows.
