HT might be used in future games that will require more threads to be processed at the same time like in watch dogs for example if you check the system requirement for ultra the CPU stated there are core i7 3770 and FX-8350, so if you have the budget i think in the long run the core i7 will be money well spent...but for today's games that are on the shelf the core i5 performs just as good...

If they were both the same price the 3770k would obviously be better but the difference you would get is very slight and is definitely not worth the price difference.
If you're strictly gaming, go with the i5 and overclock it if you need a little more performance.
