Hello everyone,
I am a bit of a noob when it comes to PC's and I was wondering if my pc with 8GB of ram, a AMD Athlon ii 2.7ghz dual core processor and a Radeon HD 7770 will be able to run games on at 720p with a frame rate of around 30fps. As the CPU is the bottleneck of the system I was wondering if anyone here knows what socket type it uses so that I can upgrade it.

newest games = medium-low 720p 30+fps.

New games = High settings 720p 50+fps.

Old games = maxed out 720p or 1080p. 70+fps.

Older games = Maxed out 720p or 1080p. 100+fps.

Oldest games = Maxed out 720p or 1080p 200+fps.

what type of Athlon x2 do you have some have different sockets.

I haven't yet seen it as I have just bought it on eBay but on the listing it says Amd athlon II 2.7 dual core

Edit: Here's the actual listing http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/181382061874?_trksid=p2059216.m1431.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT I havent yet bought the 7770 as I was wondering if it would actually fit in the computer. Like I said earlier i'm a bit of a noob when it comes to pc's so any help is appreciated

Thanks very much for all of the help. I just need to ask one more thing, what kind of time periods do you mean when you mention what games I will be able to run?

Athlon II x2 isn't bad, and is actually fairly descent for games that aren't heavily threaded, but it needs some overclock. With an HP motherboard you won't be able to unleash the true potential of that CPU. I wouldn't buy that system. Build your own. You can find great deals on used stuff from the various tech forums. I'd stay away from ebay.
