Hi everyone,

Having a problem with my DRAM LED Light staying on.

After lot of consultation here, I purchased all my parts and am building my first computer. Using an ASUS p9x79 mobo.

When doing a test build outside of the case, the DRAM LED stays on. So far, I have reset my CMOS, and tested each ram stick individually, and and each slot. The DRAM LED light stays on.

Can you offer any assistance or guidance as to what I might want to try next?

Thanks for your time,
Paolo

Hi Pibee.

I have not tried the MEMOK button, (not sure what that is) but if I am thinking right, I dont think I have a button. Instead, I have a cap on two prongs that I can move to reset CMOS.

I have Kingston 32GB (4 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory.

And I'm not sure about booting "into the bios." Don't know what that means! :)

Paolo no that's the jumper. Please refer to the diagram in the owners manual chapter 2 pages 2 and 3 to identify the Memok button. You'll find a copy of the manual here
https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P9X79/HelpDesk_Manual/

Then on page 2-17 the instruction read:
MemOK! switch
Installing DIMMs that are incompatible with the motherboard may cause system
boot failure, and the DRAM_LED near the MemOK! switch lights continuously. Press
and hold the MemOK! switch until the DRAM_LED starts blinking to begin automatic
memory compatibility tuning for successful boot.

Give that a shot and lets see whether that resolves the issue if not we'll try other stuff... good luck.

Ahh, ok. I see!

I pushed the MEMOK button during test, and the DRAM LED blinked. But the computer still did not boot. The test build would run just for a moment, then shut off, the start again. It did this until I just shut the power supply off completely. And the monitor gets nothing, just quickly flashes "VGA No Signal" and nothing more. Then goes black.

So it looks like we're making progress(?), but I still haven't been able to boot it yet! :)
