Hello Reader,

I am going to change my motherboard. As I was removing my CPU I realised that it is stuck to the CM Hyper EVO heatsink. I cannot put it back on the MoBo, its too late coz the thingy that allows you to lock the CPU in place is blocked by the copper heat pipes I am a newbie to PC build please tell me how to remove.

"wiggle" "wiggle" "wiggle" "wiggle" "wiggle" "wiggle" YEAH! is not working too.

Funny. I've done this before when being careless. You can heat up your heatsink with a hairdryer. That should soften the thermal interface enough to pull it off safely. Check for bent pins on the CPU. They are easy to straighten but they often will be bent after this happens.

I had the same problem with one of my builds. I had to grab the green pcb board and twist it to get it off. The heatsink in my case came off with the cpu while the lock was still engaged. Fortunately I didn't damage anything that I couldn't fix.

A twisting action should free it. Once it is free clean it with isopropyl alcohol.
