Hello everyone, about two months ago I built a computer but wasn't happy with its performance. I've decided to try and sell it to make way for a new one. I don't need a monitor or an OS. It's primary uses are going to be gaming on extreme settings with hundreds of mods on games in some cases and also some mild to heavy multi tasking. In my old build I had a 770 2gb and because of budget wasn't able to get the 4gb version. It also had a haswell i5 in it. The main things that annoyed me about my last build was that even when I OC'd my i5 to 4.4ghz it was still not amazing with multitasking and programs would open slowly. Also, I had purchased a second monitor for watching videos while gaming but when ever it was hooked up my games would crash. I think this was because of my 2gb 770. This time I've put together a build with the R9 290. I know it runs hot and I'm all right with that as long as my other components don't heat up too much. I was considering getting a 780, 780ti or a 290x but I think with the 290 I'll have enough power for two monitors and eventually one 2k monitor. My budget it around $1700 and I would like to get the best performance for the money that I'm spending. Let my know what you guys think of my build and please comment improvements I could make to it, thanks!

Ps. I'd also like to stay away from sli and crossfire for now and stick with a single powerful card but I will defiantly get a second gfx card in the future. Also, I could lower the psu and get another ssd to run in raid zero, how much would I benefit from this? Thanks

Solution
I doubt you need 1000w. 650 W is enough.
SSD will help with OS boot times and loading times for programs installed on SSD.
If you want a lot of programs on the SSD get a 256GB version.

But will the ssd and the i7 improve program spend and allow me to heavily multitask? Also is the r9 290 the right graphics card to use and if I did use it would it heat up the other consonants too much?

It depends what you mean by multitasking. Adding a SSD is a good option though. Only programs that is optimised for hyperthreading will be beneficial to i7.

I would be gaming on very high resolutions with google open watching movies and also have fraps running. Other times I might be recording aswell and occasionally I'd be recording while using photoshop and things like that.
