I am planning on buying an i7-4770k processor and want to buy a Noctua CPU cooler. What type should i get that will have adequate cooling even if I do some light overclocking? Is dual 120mm or 140mm fans necessary? Basically I want to know what size I need and with how many heat pipes would be optimal.

I would go with a NH-D14.
I have one on a 4770k @4.2@1.2v
Stress temps are 65ish,
And realistic load temps (rendering of fsx) are 50c

Great cooler and time quiet

When going for the option given by SR-71 make sure it fits your case, this is one of the specs:Height (with fan)165 mm.
The NH-U12s is a little smaller,it's 158mm high. You could add a fan on that one too.
