Majorforce0 :
i had just made a new computer and i took a old hard drive along with a new hard drive i couldnt get the files from my old hard drive. But i just installed windows 8.1 (both hard drive were on windows 7) old one. then when i take out the old one it tells me theres no boot system even tho there is windows 7 on the new hard drive. What do i do?
When you installed 8.1 on the old drive, you had both drives connected to the system, correct? If so Windows prolly installed a 350 MB Win 8.1 SRP (System Reserved Partition) on the new drive, which wiped out the Win 7 SRP.
If you wish to run Win 7 from the new drive, run a bootable copy (USB or DVD) of Win 7 installation and do a Windows Repair of your Win 7 installation, which will prolly wipe out the Win 8.1 SRP on the new drive, so you'll also need to disconnect the new drive and do a Windows repair Installation on your Win 8.1 on the old drive when/if you reinstall it.
