Toshiba A105-S4014 (upgraded to)
Windows 7 64 Ultimate
Intel CORE 2 T7200 2.00GHzz
4GB(2.99GB usable) RAM

Please help me make sense of this-

When booting up I get an error screen with the following:

ERROR
Resource Conflict - PCI Serial Bus Controller on Motherboard
Bus: 07, Device: 06. Function: 01
ERROR
Resource Conflict - PCI Mass Storage Controller on Motherboard
Bus: 07, Device: 06. Function: 02
ERROR
Resource Conflict - PCI on Motherboard
Bus: 07, Device: 06. Function: 03

The only way to get past it is to pull the power and battery, wait, plug in, then tap F8 and boot using previous successful settings. [EDIT: "Last Known Good configuration" in F8>Advanced Boot Menu]
It hibernates correctly and never crashes. The Errors only appear on fresh boot and reboot.

I ran all of the standard system checks that are provided in the windows software as well as my Norton 360 tools, SuperAntiSpyware, and EST Online Scanner.
I have already searched other threads regarding errors of this type as best I could.
The BIOS is the latest available.
CMOS battery has never been replaced on this laptop(8 yrs this month)
I did a clean install 3 Months ago when I upgraded to 64 bit with new processor. A-ok since then until now.
I can tear down and replace anything that need to be done myself.(CMOS, Motherboard, etc)

Thanks for your reply but I did not change any settings in the first place- knowingly, at least. And if any settings were changed I don't know what they were.

When above I said "boot using previous successful settings" That may not be the 'exact' wording of the available option but I think you know what I mean. It's like a system restore option. I've done it twice already but I really don't want to try another reboot to find out.

Exact wording described above is:
[EDIT: "Last Known Good configuration" in F8>Advanced Boot Menu]

I was wondering if those errors may indicate some sort of hardware failure.
When I tried to reflash BIOS a get an administrator error 1275.

Thanks you for your reply-
Yes, when I initially did the clean install of the 64 upgrade 3 months ago I ran the The Win 7 installer. All other Windows 7 updates were installed, too. Everything was operating fine until just recently. I researched these errors as best I could before I posted my question on this site. I also ran The Win7 installer again. Any questions from others that are related to this error on toshiba.support have been left unanswered and not followed up on.

My Mass Storage Controller driver is missing on the Device Manager which is showing an error. I can not find any file anywhere to correct this.

[later] ......I just performed a successful reboot after running Microsoft's Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor which offered a toshiba link(link at end of post) to upgrade my memory card reader and NOW my device manager has 3 different errors:

IEEE 1394 Bus Host Controllers>TI 1394 Compliant Host Controller
Other Devices>Mass Storage Controller
SD Host Adapters>SDA Standard Compliant SD Host Controller

I'm fixin' to do a clean install again in the next day or two. I can replace the motherboard myself with a brand new one for less than 50 bones. Nobody has mentioned that as a possible resolution yet. I'm just an advanced novice when it comes to internal software/BIOS issues.

I will update this thread until the issue is completely resolved

[UPDATE....later] After hibernation wake...
Windows Driver Software Installation window pops up and installs 'Texas Instruments PCI-8x12/7x12/6x12 CardBus Controller' automatically with a green check mark. (why are drivers missing?)
Device manager still has the same three warning signs.
lets try to reboot...

[UPDATE] reboot was normal(2 in a row!), Device Manager still shows the one persistant issue:
Other Devices>Mass Storage Controller
PCI bus 7, device 6, function 2
The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)

[UPDATE]no progress....boot near impossible. Time to try clean install(format HDD/install OS)

ANSWER:

After deciding to do a clean install everything is back to normal. The Device Manger is now error free.
The Toshiba win7 update utility did the job but only after a clean install. It was ran with the initial install 3 months ago but sometime in the past two weeks things became wonky. Possibly from some beta programs I was trying.

I did a format
Windows 7 Ultimate install
important updates
Toshiba Win7 utility

Any future events related to this issue will be added to the thread.
