Hello! So basically in the last couple of months I have noticed that when I click Shut Down on my computer, it going through the normal phase of closing everything and eventually the computer goes dark and quiet, then suddenly (as if I had pressed restart instead) the computer jumps back into life.

Have no idea what is going on an its becoming a real problem, any help would be much appreciated =)

Best Regards

Solution
Try the following, switch off your computer as you usually do.
Then use the time it stays powered off, to remove the power cable from the power supply.
Wait a minute and plug the cable back in.

Should the pc restart enter the BIOS check the energy options as a couple of mainboards do have an option to power on the computer after power cut.
Is your PSU making any strange noises while powered down ? As it can happen that the PSU has problems in keeping the electricity and therefore the BIOS thinks that there was a power cut after a shut down.

Hi. I was recently having this same issue. Additionally, if I put the computer to sleep, the fans would come back on and I wouldn't be able to wake the computer back up. I would have to hold the power button to shut everything off. Then pressing the power button would wake it back up. Removing the cable (I also flipped the switch on the PSU) solved this. What do you think the root cause is?
