Part of the issue is that many times there's not a lot of headroom unless you have the unlocked (Black Edition) processors. Another issue is that you're using the stock cooler on a 6 core Phenom. Usually when they make and bin the chips, they'll find the max speed at which they'll run reliably, knock it down a notch, then brand them (with the 1045/1055/1090/1100 designations). There's not much difference between the designations - a total of 600mhz between the 1035 and the 1100, and much of it depends on the processor to keep cool - thus the importance of aftermarket cooling in overclocking.

Now, because these processors are pre-screened, and thus multiplier locked to the best frequency for stable operation, you can play with the base clock to increase the frequency of the processor and if you don't want to run the risk of really cooking your processor, you go slow and don't tweak the voltages - leave any of that on 'auto' for the voltages.

General rule of thumb is to increase the bclock by 1 mhz at a time, until it won't post and/or boot into windows, then back it down. Run a stress test on it, if it passes then leave it, if not, back it down until it passes the stress tests. And remember, get an aftermarket cooler, you won't get too far on the stock one.
