specs;
p5n-t deluxe
intel 8400
ati radeon hd 6670 1gb
win 7 home pre 64bit

Did a clean win 7 install on an old 80bg ide hard drive as a test and everything worked fine.
Then I changed the hard drive into a 320gb sata drive and did a clean win 7 install which worked fine until I installed the drivers for the ati radeon and the sata drive started to lag and freeze.
I've tried different drivers for the radeon, updated the win 7 drivers that could be related but nothing. When I remove the radeon drivers everything works fine again.
Why does it work on the ide hard drive but not on the sata one?

Been fiddling with the bios settings too but no matter what I do the problem persists. Also, that mobo doesnt have any (official) win 7 drivers, atleast I haven't found any. Anyways, since it works on an ide then the problem must be with the sata drivers and the radeon ones. Or something like that.. go figure, I'm out of ideas/options.

This is what CPU Z says; Asus p5n-t deluxe 1.xx . Most likely the problem has something to do with the nvidia chipset (nForce 780i SLI SPP) that its got.
After I remove the radeon drivers with amd's own driver removal it returns the original ones and everything works fine. So radeon installs
something that messes up things.. *sighs*

Hello Dead Beaver,

1. ASUS does not support Windows 7 for your Motherboard (but the board itself does). I checked it in the ASUS Site and it only has Windows XP and Vista drivers.
https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P5NT_Deluxe/HelpDesk_Download/

2. You installed a driver for your Graphic Card right? And I think there is a SATA Raid built-in on that driver. All I can think is the ATI Graphics Driver (with SATA Driver) replaced the SATA RAID of the NVIDIA Chipset, which turned out not compatible. Well, you can atleast manually update your ATI Graphics driver so that the SATA Driver will not update the SATA Device.

Hey there.
Yea, I installed those ati radeon drivers, the whole thing, ati catalyst center etc. When installing those drivers
I can choose what to install, now I just got to figure out which things I have to leave out so that sata drive wont
get messed up again. We'll see..

Hello Dead Beaver,

You can always do the Manual Update so that it will only update the Graphics Driver but I'm not sure if it will install the ATI Catalyst software. Well, just try if it will. And just re-install the NVIDIA Chipset and RAID drivers after installing the ATI Driver.
