My computer was unable to connect to the router -- kept saying limited connection. So I went to HP, there were two fixes...one

I "updated my bios" from a file that I got from HP -- and now I cannot even sign in to my computer. It's an HP Envy -- big one that sits on the floor, although they call it a desktop. So frustrating.

What do you mean "Cannot sign into my computer"?

Do you mean that your computer will not boot correctly? Or do you mean that your password no longer works?

Can you link the file that you used and your motherboard/computer model? (Also, do you know what your previous BIOS version was?)

I mean that, when the sign-in screen comes up, and I enter my code, the little bunch of dots that circles (in place of the used-to-be hourglass) just whirls and whirls, then after 10 minutes or so, the screen goes black. I click on the screen, try again, circle whirls, screen goes black...ad infinitum.

As far as the bios version, it's whatever came with the computer. It's fairly new -- Windows 8, God bless me --
I'll try to come back from home where I have access to the exact model, etc.
