Does the bios read cpu socket or core temps?

So 1st question i was wondering if the cpu temp inside the bios is reading the core temps or the socket temp?

2nd question: if the BIOS do read the socket temp then I've narrowed down that tmpin2 in hwmonitor is my socket temps and the package temps is the main core temp and i'm wondering if 28-30c is good socket idle temps and 11-12c is good idle core temps?

newest motherboards yes shows core temperatures .and your temperatures 28-30 C IS GOOD others 11-12C(unrealistic)you
can install and use software to monitor your hardware (cpu,gpu,motherboard.chip)

  • UPDATE temperatures is important to monitor time by time.you wanna install temperature reading software cause its easier to use,u dont need every time go to BIOS and check thous temperatures is tough.

Currently it's starting to get a little warm with spring starting and right now i believe it is 70-71f in my house right now and i have a amd fx-6300 right now, and i have a Gigabyte GA-78LMT-S2 as my mobo.

I was just about to say that :p

There's no way your core temps can be 11C though, your house would have to be lower than 50F for that to be possible.

Your core temps are still fine, but they aren't that low. Probably 20-30C.

You're good to go! The temps you really have to pay attention to are load temperatures. Don't let those exceed 65C for longterm use.

Sorry for the late reply but so far the highest I've gotten my socket temp is 58c when playing diablo 3 maxed out at 1080p and the core temp was around 10-15c lower then that. This is after i got a new exhaust fan installed.

Those good temps at all?
