Why has data in a partition been deleted?

I have made a secondary partition on my hdd, I copied a file (it was Programs (x86)) and then after I checked it was all in the new partition I deleted the old copy and it deleted the data from the new partition i just copied it too as well does anybody know what I have done wrong here?

Don't move or mess around with program files folder period. They are not meant to be moved. Windows and the registry need the files in that location. It makes no sense to move them to a new partition

Moving them to a new partition put them into a different drive letter so now windows cant find them since all its info (from when you installed them) says they are on C:\program files...

Easiest fix is to copy them all back or reinstall all of them to the new partition.
