I would also like to know if I can fix my power button, the case is a corsair 500r.

The system was built in february this year and the button was working fine.

My last option would be to replace the case as I don't want to take all the parts out.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Shorting the power/reset pins on the motherboard so that the computer will turn on and off is fine for the motherboard, but don't do it recklessly and short something that can be damaged. You can probably get a new power and reset switch from Corsair.

The short answer to the title is no. You can fix your power switch by getting a replacement from Corsair.
