So I get pretty low FPS in Battlefield 4. I got the lastest AMD drivers 14.3 mantle and I get low temperatures, but I still get low FPS. On Operation Locker in Battlefield 4 I get around 40-70 fps. Sometimes less. Is this normale?

Took both graphic cards out and then in. The reason why I thought that everything was right cuz of MSI afterburner said both cards was enabled. Btw, want me to post a video of the framerates?

I think a single one should do (I get 50fps on average with ultra settings @ 1080p, and that's with a GTX 760).

Does this PC Build will give me 60+ fps in Battlefield 4 in Ultra?

Thanks

Yes. It may go to mid 50s in intense parts. Good Luck!

I have i7 4770k and 280x running at 1920 x 1080p @ 75 hz, all Ultra settings. Using Mantle on Shanghai 64 player server I have the FPS capped at 74.99 and it rarely drops below 75 FPS.[strike] I can post the frame rate analysis and video if you want it. [/strike]

With that 290 you should be able to top mine quite easily and that 4gb will ensure no vram overflow although with the latest 14.4 drivers and patch I haven't any overflow.

Here's the raw data analysis:

Here's the video as described above using Mantle. All Ultra settings, 4x msaa. It was recorded using Action! which takes about 5 FPS off the average from what I can tell. It took me quite a few times recording before realizing Borderless causes quite a performance hit.

Not bad for a $300 card. And for those who said Mantle was all hype,

Hmm... my 8350 at 4.6ghz and R9 290 with Mantle runs Shanghi at like 50-80 in much of the map... I can't keep the fps from dropping under 60. no matter what settings... I'll get 70-113 in rouge transmission, but then drop to 49-80 in Hainan resort... Paracel storm as well, runs 49-75fps in TDM... these are all 64P benches... I get low fps when my gpu usage drops.. anyone got any explanation?

Shanghai, Paracel Storm and Hainan Resort are FPS hogs, so that's not all that surprising to see lower FPS, but your 290 isn't running at its potential.

Question: have you messed with your user.cfg or PROFSAVE_profile files, like modifying to improve video quality?

Do you have a good psu? What OS? MB? List all the specs.

Custom profiles are a joke, never helped me, I even had over 35 in game commands in one one time...

All of my specs are in my signature. I know the PC isn't defective, I benchmark appropriately and play games like Metro last light and hitman absolution, even Far Cry 3 fine...

I've got the same CPU and GPU (R9 290 tri-x) with only 8GB-s of RAM and BF4 on Operation Locker in 1080p runs at around 110-120FPS so something is definitely not right with your config.
Don't use Mantle tho, the game performed worse for me when I've tried mantle.

My specs:
Asus Z87 Pro 1802 bios
i7 4770k
Gigabyte Windforce OC 280x
WD Black Caviar 1TB hdd
Samsung 840 Pro SSD
Hyper 212 Evo
16gb ram
Corsair 750w psu

Ah yep. Those "custom profiles" completely whacked my game. I only use the bare minimum and do it via BF4 Editor.

So my system specs are similar to yours. I had issues early on and part of the problem was the mobo drivers. The Realtek Audio drivers were updated to the latest via Slimdrivers (BF4 seems to need latest). If you're sure your mobo has the latest drivers (use latest bios too), allow the mobo to auto set everything and use the 'Normal' profile in EZ mode. Make sure the onboard video is disabled in the bios and check device manager to verify. .

Delete your BF4 user.cfg file and PROFSAVE_profile file. Open Origin, right click on BF4 and choose the repair option.

Create a System Restore Point, use DDU, go into safe mode (DDU will do it for you) and uninstall video drivers. Download the LATEST 14.4 WHQL; they have been updated since original release date, although geared toward AMD mobo issues. Install them and try in DX11 mode first. Also, don't play in Borderless mode. If no go, uninstall with DDU again and try 13.12.

Report back.

P.S. I only use Mantle now and have very few problems. FPS is locked at 75 (monitor is 75 hz) and it plays smooth as butter. The in-game graph shows cpu as flat line and gpu nearly flat.

Which Driver are you on? How do you get DX11 to runs so well? how high are you OC'd CPU/GPU wise? It runs AT 110-120, or around 75-150 like mine... I'm more so between 85-115 in lockers with mantle, and so is my friend who has 8350 and R9 290 PCS+.

Has your games always ran well? even on DX11? If not, what fixed yours, and what do you think I could do?

Were MOBO drivers all you really needed? I've used DDU countless times up until now, with 14.4 chipsets and graphics. best fps yet, but still not perfect. I reinstalled all MOBO and chipset/graphics drivers, including realtek. I ran the game with realtek drivers, and they helped my fps none... in fact, no MOBO drivers helped my in game fps... Only the 14.4 chipsets and graphics did... I uninstalled the Realteks's, cause Windows HD audio sounds better in 5.1 surround to me, and they don't have all the issues Realtek's do... (crashes a few of my games...)

What do you propose there is left to do, even locking to 75fps, I drop below 75 in many maps, and down to 50 at times... Let me remind you that my GPU is 30% faster than yours :/

FPS drops below 75 occasionally on a few maps on Ultra. In normal play I don't use Ultra, but a mix, then it never drops below 75.

Did you delete your user.cfg and PROFSAVE_profile and do a repair install, then reinstall video drivers? All it takes is one line of bad command to totally screw up your FPS and video quality.

I did nothing except trying out mantle and switching back to DX11, since on Mantle bf4 ran around 55FPS and the game just froze after 2 minutes. So I've switched back to DX11.

Tho when I've bought my PC FPS was jumping in BF4 like crazy, because Core parking was on, turned it off, works like a charm

DX11 runs 20-30fps worse for me, and core unparking didn't help since I'm on windows 8.1 already...

What windows are you on? How did you choose to unpark them?
