I'm pretty new to the computer scene, and am not sure which components to use for a reasonable gaming PC to run newer games like Battlefield, World of Tanks and the to be released Watchdogs at medium or higher. I would much rather have an Intel based system, despite the higher costs.

Any help would be appreciated.

this is the best i can do with your budget to have a decent build
