Tips for 1st build

Hello everyone, I threw together what will be my first build, I'll let you see for yourself, but if anyone could give me any advice or their opinion on it that'd be greatly appreciated.

It looks good. I would avoid the CX PSU though. I would also suggest CL9 1866 RAM (I prefer G Skill RAM).

Hi,
You got nice build there. I would just change the PSU. Corsair's CX units are considered entry or budget units and they use low quality capacitors

If you don't go with the one I linked, Corsair (except the CX line), Antec, XFX, and Seasonic all make great power supplies. Get one with 80+ Gold Certification if possible. 650 watts should be enough.

For that one it's fantastic, but I think I could drop the 770 and go for the (its cheaper right?) cheaper 760 4 gig for around low 300, and compensate to buy an ssd for boot. I think though, I'd stick with the first one.

Here is the first build:

I added the Antec PSU, and bumped up to the 4 gig version of the 760. I think for around 1350, I'm getting a better deal simply because I can fit in that 840 EVO for booting OS, and a monitor (which I need!), without monitor it'd be around 1200ish

Unless you are going to add multiple monitors, the 4GB on the GTX 760 isn't an improvement.

If it is a choice . I would keep the 840 SSD, and then add the hard drive later when you can afford it. That SSD makes a world of difference in performance.

I'll have a couple of monitor so it'll be good. I went with the SSD to boot the OS from, I may eventually make this machine into a hackintosh for the fun of it.

If you have 2 monitors and aren't going to be gaming on both at the same time, 2gb should still be alright. Get 4gb if you either plan to get 3 monitors or may set up SLI in the future.
