Its been a while since I updated my personal computer cpu, Q6600, and Ive now decided on two choices for a new one. For 3D and design work CPU means a lot, so Ive decided to spend the bulk of my new pc money on it. The new Haswell E has 8 cores, 20 MB, supports DDR4, and clocked around 3.0Ghz which would be a perfect cpu to last me at least 4 years. However, for 400 more I can get the Xeon E5-2660 which has 10 cores (4 more cores), 25MB, and 2.2GHz. I was wondering, which would be the better pick that would give me better performance with render time?

Thanks

Solution
i would personally get either haswell-E or broadwell, and the xeon is really expensive right now, broadwell should be a little cheaper, same with haswell-e, also, ddr4 ram will help quite a bit :)

My biggest concern is whether the new socket and ddr4 could out
perform 2 cores, plus hyperthread, when it come to rendering. It's hard to tell without any true comparison.
