I have a i3 3220 and i want to upgrade to an i5 or i7 i have a Asus p8B75-m/csm and i want to stream.
do i have to change my motherboard to get a new cpu?

the 3220 is an ivy bridge; a 3xxx is an ivy bridge (3rd generation) and 2xxx is a sandy bridge (2nd generation). Either of these will work in your motherboard as i7 Baby said.
The 3rd generation is marginally better, but not by a wide margin, if you find a great price on a good i5 or i7 sandy bridge don't need to hesitate on it.
