So I just bought a 290x and along with it, its heat problems. It's currently being shipped but I'm an avid overclocker and I'm slightly worried.
I was thinking of mounting an AIO cpu liquid cooling on it. I know there's great success with the Antec 620 Kuhler using zip ties, but what about other closed system coolers?

1) Will just about any AIO liquid cooler work? What about the cooler master seidon series?

2) Out of curiosity, are there any (open loop) gpu blocks that could also fit the 290x? I can cool the ram myself, and I already looked at the EK ones.

Thanks for reading!

Solution
Yep - those figures were for Furmark.

I'd take the easiest path -

1. get a 290x with real good custom cooler.

2nd option - Gelid or Arctic Cooling air cooler

3. Arctic cooling water cooler

@i7Baby, thanks for the link, I'll definitely consider it
@leeb2013 Yes, stock cooler. I'm just obsessed with cranking things to the max :p

Does anyone have enough experience to answer question 1?

Well, I'm mounting closed loop CPU on a GPU, I don't think they would state the GPUs compatible with the cooler lol...
I forgot to mention I'm greatly into modding as well. I don't really like what's on the market right now.

Btw Kracken G10 is out of stock, and i7baby's suggestion is a preorder. I need something fast so I have time to work with it for a while.

Gah, now I'm really torn if I get liquid cooling or not. Should I just get a Gelid Icy Vision Rev 2? I only hear that it reaches to about 60 - 70 C under full load but what happens if I overclock? On "full load" it's only consuming 100 W, but the TDP is almost 300 W which leaves me very confused.

Thanks for your reply. Is that a 290x under full load?
I've overclocked a 7850 to a stable 1120 core and 1400 mem, it raised the temps by around 20 - 30, you that's why you see I'm getting worried over seemingly nothing.

Is there no core temperature in the 290x? That seems very odd. Also, what is it being cooled with?
