Hey guys, my laptop has been having a problem for about 5 months now but its usually on an off. I've been experiencing fps drops and freezing every 5 or so seconds while playing games. Even playing videos sometimes freezes for about 3 seconds. I usually to play league of legends. Id be able to play it on medium-high settings at 60 fps, but had to put everything to low to reduce my fps drops and freezing. I play other games as well such as Garry's Mod, Counter Strike: GO, Smite, Just Cause 2, Kerbal Space Program, Battlefield: BC2, Skyrim and many more on low-medium settings and i still get the same problem, so its not just one game where i get this. However, some games like Mount and Blade: Warband, Terraria, hl2 engine based games, and platformers dont cause me this problem. I assume its because they are all less demanding on my laptops hardware than the newer games.

I searched for answers many times for a solution but couldnt find one. I also ran multiple anti-virus scans from different companies, defraged my computer, used Razer Game Booster, system boosters like Advanced System Care and Cloud Booster, prioritized the game im running in task manager, and dropped game setting to low to try to fix this problem. Yet, the problem still persists but just ever-so slightly is reduced in frequency. This problem makes games unplayable and is very frustrating when i try to play.

My specs (not the best but it still works for what i want):

AMD quad-core A8-4500M 1.9GHz but cant go up to 2.8GHz
AMD radeon HD 7640G
8GB DDR3
750GB HDD
Windows 8.1

I heard that temperature could be a factor in my problem so i took some temperature readings and this is what i got:

Idle average
CPU: 39C
GPU: 39C

Playing a video at 1080p fullscreen
CPU: 54C
GPU: 51C

Playing Mirrors Edge on medium settings (average 47fps)
CPU: 66C
GPU: 62C

I dont know much about hardware temperatures but im thinking that around 50C is hot. When I played mirrors edge, i usually dont freeze or experience fps drops but i still do sometimes. Also i played the game for about 10 minutes to get the temperature.

During all these readings i was using a very very cheap ebay cooling fan that i dont really believe does much but lift up my laptop for more air and to make it look cool with LEDs. I always use this fan and always have it on.

Can anyone help me? Any suggestions as to what i should do?

Sorry no one has responded here in Components. I don't have any specific answers or 'fixes' for you, unfortunately: Just a couple suggestions to try if you haven't already done them.
You might try reposting (copy and paste) another new thread under the forum header Mobility: Laptops and Notebooks to see if someone can help.
On a whim; download and run CCleaner from piriform.com (the free version, make sure to download from piriform not one of the 3rd party sites). There is the slight possibility that your PC has a bunch of old files etc. causing the slow downs.
Also, try cleaning out the laptop, as best as possible, with some canned air; the CPU temp looks a bit high, but that might be o.k. in a laptop.
Might also want to try...

Might also want to try Malwarebytes and or Spybot Search and Destroy to see if there is any addware or other malware (not viri) that may be causing the problem.
Good luck.
