ccc?

Laptops don't like having things added. Especially hp laptops. That way they can keep them cheap and be the only ones that can service them.

To do this you need to physically install the new graphics card (which might need more power than your power brick can supply anyway) and boot into bios (f2 after start) The turn off the integrated graphics and turn on the pcie graphics. then save and exit. You might also have to uninstall the Intel HD graphics driver to prevent later problems.

Oh ta - sorry I'm an nVidia guy lol. Similar to nVidia Control Panel I suppose.

I doubt whether we will find info on the bios. But I have seen screen dumps here before of various mobos doing this.

ooo - look what I found - http://www.wikihow.com/Disable-the-Onboard-Graphics-and...

See if that helps

OK now I think you need to do more Googling or try the Radeon forum. It might be a longshot but I thought I came across something similar where people were advised to delete/uninstall Aero to help get CCC working properly. But I work on a lot of these threads. Otherwise I'm out of ideas. Sorry

Thanks...I am following some advice on other threads, and I went on device manager and clicked to update my amd radeon hd 8670m card but now both cards got a yellow exclamation mark infront of them in device manager

Looks like you've got Bios with neither of them enabled. Try again and find pcie graphics and enable it.

I have heard some laptops have automatic switching. Default is integrated, but swaps to discrete if 3D detected.

Anything like that in the manual?

Yes its supposed to switch automatically but my problem is that the game, sims 3 that I would like to play, when I run the game it takes up the hd intel not the radeon, then it stops the game saying not enough memory or it crashes....I would like to manualy switch to amd radeon card for this game.im having trouble doing that.there is an option to switch graphics when going to the desktop and rigtclick the screen, but after I rigtclick and enter, the program switchable graphics doesnt start...

The trouble is I can't see your bios screens. Any chance of helping here?

All I could do is go through all of them carefully to see if you can switch of automatic switching for the GPUs. It's not in any hp software that came with the laptop?

I uninstalled the new update for amd radeon card.now no yellow explanation marks in device manager but yet no switchable graphics. wait I will take some pics of my bios and upload to fb and put the link here. unfortunately I got only Ubuntu with the laptop. I myself erased all and installed windows 8.1 pro and drivers
