If you're going 8GB RAM you're better off going 2x4GB for the Dual Channel performance benefit. If you're stuck on getting 8GB per RAM slot then get 16GB.

For the cooler I'd get something like a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO as you can find HERE. That should keep your CPU running cool and relatively quiet.

For the Power Supply I'd make sure you're getting a solid 550W 80+ Gold rated unit. Those FX Processors do like their power so a good PSU will make sure you're not wasting most of those 550W of power as exhaust heat.

That's it pretty much.

It is all compatible. There will be zero difference in performance between 1x8GB and 2x4GB. I do recommend the Cooler Master 212 Evo if you want to overclock. If not, the stock cooler is fine. I recommend at least a 80+ Bronze psu. I don't think it's worth paying extra for 80+ gold for a build like this unless it's going to be running 24/7

The 7790 is decent depending on how much it is.

I beg to differ. From all that I've read and from what I know a single stick of RAM will run in Single Channel Mode. The AMD FX Processors are starved for bandwidth to begin with. Cutting the potential bandwidth in two will result in a very noticeable performance difference. You want Dual Channel for the AMD FX Processor lineup.

EDIT: Users who upgraded to Dual Channel and got a huge boost in Frames per Second HERE.
