BTW, my budget is around $220. So far I've narrowed down to the HD 7790 and the GTX-750

Keep in mind that PassMark benchmarks usually do not mirror much real world performance. Stick with reviews and real-world benchmarks on Tom's Hardware, X-Bit Laws, Hardware Info UK, Anandtech.

a top GTX 750 requires $150, and your budget allows a top GTX 760, which is much superior (provided you need it, that is, if you want high setting, full effects, and 1920×1080 or 1920×1200 gaming, all at 60fps).

I suggest you go with the 750 and save that money.

Performance in the particular applications for the given money.

On average the GTX750 is slightly ahead. But maybe not in say Battlefield 4 - Google reviews and see for yourself
