Video card isn't detected. Is it broken?

So I recently just took apart my computer and for some reason, my computer doesn't detect the video card and automatically changes it to integrated graphics. I've tried checking the bios and the option to use the video card isn't there. It powers on with the fan but my computer doesn't read it as if it was there. Im currently using a GTX 550ti

Off the top of my head i can think of a few problems.

1) Are you using the ports on the graphics card?
2) Is it plugged in all the way?
3) Did you plug in the power connectors? (If the card has any)
