I do not want water cooling. I am not planning to OC.
I just think my card is running a bit too hot.

Actually, Arctic silver 5 has been known to not work well on gpu chips. I personally had good luck with the mx-4 paste on a 680 (basically half of the 690) but i have seen almost anyone using mx-5 for gpu applications have trouble with it. I am not sure if it is due to the viscosity but it doesnt seem to give great gpu temps (works great on cpu's). Now keep in mind most of the failing applications have been with the 290 or 290x from amd, so your mileage may vary with the 690... It won't hurt to try though

Hehe, 5 degrees is better than nothing. In bf4 as an example, the temps sometimes reaches 86 degrees Celsius.

honestly 86C is a perfectly fine temp for that gpu.
they have a thermal limit of 105c, and a throttle limit of like 90c.
a poor quality psu will degrade your card faster than temps in the 80's will
