So I'm thinking of buying an XBOX 360 E, the latest version:
http://www.cnet.com/products/microsoft-xbox-360-elite-game-console-250-gb-hdd-black/
I need some info that I haven't been able to find so far:
1. How reliable is it? Does it handle heat well, provided there's enough space around it? With proper maintenence, what's the probability of getting a general hardware error?
2. XBOX Live is a paid service, but does it cost money to just browse the web, without using XBL? I know it has built-in Wi-Fi functionality, and I have Wi-Fi in my apartment.
3. How likely is it to scratch disks? Can it happen if it's kept horizontally and not moved while it's running? Can vibrations that occur nearby cause this to happen?

No, I didn't mean the XBOX One. I meant the latest version of the XBOX 360. They look similarly, but they are two different consoles belonging to two different generations.
I don't want an 8th generation console.

I have the latest Xbox 360 console, so far I love it. There is a big fan exhaust on the top of the console, and it does put off a good amount of heat so be sure if you lay it like in the photo there is space on the top for proper air floe.

As far as browsing the web I believe you will need to an xbox live gold account to be able to download the IE browser from the app store, but im not sure I had a gold account when I purchased my new xbox 360 console.

I think the disk scratching might happen either which way. I had an xbox360 since they came out and in that whole time I only scratched 2 disks. I took them to LAN parties with the games still in the drive and nothing bad happened.

Another thing to consider is that the power brick is still as big.
