i7 4770k What's The difference

Solution
One is a 3770k and the other is a 4770k.

The 3 and 4 signify third and fourth generation CPUs, that is Ivy Bridge and Haswell respectively.

A 3770k is slightly older and cooler running. It can overclock higher but will do less work per mhz. A 4770k is newer and more power efficient, but overclocks quite badly.

They both run on different socket types too so make sure you're getting one that will fit on your motherboard.

so 3770k is slightly older, it's an ivy bridge cpu, same -ish frequency and slightly worse performance on the integrated graphics. i was expecting it to be cheaper compared to the 4770 but i guess it's more expensive due to it being harder to find

if you have a 1155 motherboard only 3770 is compatible with it, for the 4770 is you need a 1150 motherboard.
