I have Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 860 processor so what socket type am I looking for when buying a motherboard? I don't wanna buy a motherboard which isn't compatible with my processor.

If you buy a new motherboard that is a different socket, you will need to buy a new CPU for that motherboard as well, yes.

The RAM, HD and other accessories should work on the new motherboard though.
