Hi all,

I have a clevo w230st laptop with a Samsung 840 EVO msata 256G drive as my OS running win 7 enterprise 64bit. The problem started two days ago and it won't boot into windows unless I am on safe mode without network. All other booting options will make the drive freeze. Running chkdsk, it shows that some files are corrupted. I thought Msata had no moving parts so my questions are:

1. If a msata is corrupted what does it mean and how did it get corrupted?
2. Does this mean my drive is gone?
3. I've had this drive for less than 6 months and bought it from amazon, do you think the warranty will cover this?
4. What do I need to do next? I've already have an identical drive sitting around so what should I do now?

Thanks.

You mean All other booting options that inculde the " boot from last known good configuration " too. If yes, then do you have the copy of your drive? If both are not, I think you have to reinstall the win7 again.
#1) The drive is corrupted that means some of blocks of SSD with boot file in it are dead. And druing the boot the OS can't find those files so that the win7 can't boot. But if you do reinstall the win7, you can still use it because the win7 will install the files into other good blocks. So that is your answer for #2, the drive is still OK. #3) if you want you can call the clevo to see what you can do. Wait, do you buy the SSD drive only from amazon? or do you buy the whole laptop? If you buy the laptop then call or email clevo, if you buy the ssd only call or email samsung. The drive should still be under warranty.
