I was trying to upgrade my computer to 8gb memory which is its max and will support it, but when i install this stick of ram, my computer doesnt utilize it. It puts the entire 4096mb under hardware reserved. I tried unchecking the box for memory in msconfig but it didnt work. So i took it out and held onto it for a while. Came across another situation where my friend would have liked the piece of ram, installed it in the computer and it also wouldnt use the ram. So what is this ram for?
The ram in my computer said it was 10600s or something like that, i figure thats the speed? maybe its incompatible, but if it is, what is it supposed to work with? Will it go in a macbook pro and work?

How many slots does your motherboard have, and how many sticks of memory did you put into the slots?

Also, I think you mean 1600, and it will still work with your motherboard even if it doesn't support that high of a speed. It will simply use the highest speed that it is capable of. Also, if this is desktop memory it wont work with a macbook, and I believe to get ram for a macbook you have to buy it from apple, as they do not support hardware made by other companies (why I don't like apple) at least that's how it used to be.

I believe it is because the speed wasn't appropriate. Im not sure what the issue is but i installed 10600 ram and it worked fine.
