Which version of Windows do I need for installing on a PC I build?

So I just got the parts for my computer in, and I realized I forgot to buy a copy of Windows to put on it (Genius, I know). When I look at my local electronics store, they only carry Windows 8.1 Full Retail. Will the full retail version work for installing on a new computer?
