Monitor is much better than TV but it's also depends on TV. If TV is a 4k than TV better but if TV is 1080p then 24inch 1080p monitor is way better than 32inch 1080p monitor :)

What kind of games do you play? TV's can have slower response times, lower refresh rates, and higher input lag.

16:10 is horrible for gaming as developers optimize the appearance of graphics for standard 16:9 aspect ratio. I would suggest getting something like this if you intend to game on it a lot. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

I recommend the Asus VG248QE, its a little more then the one linked above, but you can't go wrong with 144hz refresh, your games will be much smoother/clearer. IMO this is one of the best monitors for gamming out right now for FPS type games.

I don't like 27" monitors for gaming, but that is just my preference.

The BenQ seems like a solid choice.

I agree the VG248QE is a good monitor (there is also a 27" version) but the colors are not as good as an IPS, so take that into consideration. I get the feeling that OP prefers picture quality to performance.
