Hi everyone,
I have a 24" monitor which means I play at 1920x1080 resolution. My GTX 580 went dead a couple of months ago, so I decided to buy a new graphics card.

My question is simple and straightforward: Given the fact that the maximum resolution I'd be playing at is 1920x1080, is getting GTX 780 (Gigabyte 3GB OC Windforce 3X) worth it in terms of performance or should I go for GTX 770 (haven't decided which manufacturer yet)?

Thanks in advance

Budget? What games do you plan on playing? Obviously the 780 is more "future proof" than the 770 so if you're willing to pay the price for it then more power to ya.

I think the 770 is plenty for 1920 x 1080.

The GTX 780 will max out games at 1080p 60fps with occasional dips. I personally believe that it is worth it. With the 770 you would have to play on high vs. ultra/max for a couple games in order to keep 60fps. Future games will only have even more demand which will widen this gap.

Actually I take gaming seriously. Most of my favorite games are high-end games (e.g., Assassin's creed, Metro last light, Crysis, Battlefield, Call of duty ....etc). I think in this case you would recommend the 780

At 1080p you want to get the EVGA GTX 780 SC w/ ACX http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CUIVSNS. 2GB VRAM is being pushed to the limits at that resolution and the 780 will easily max any game at 1080p right now.

If you want a cheaper option you can go with the 2GB 770 but don't bother with the 4GB version because it doesn't have the bandwidth to even utilize 4GB VRAM.

So you think that EVGA GTX 780 3GB SC w/ ACX is a better choice than Gigabyte GTX 780 3GB OC Windforce 3X ?

EVGA is generally an all around better manufacturer with slightly better performance, superior reliability, and the best customer support/service in the market.
