my friend have a hp laptop running windows xp and upgraded to windows 7. But my friend wanted to roll back to windows xp for best gaming performent. When i boot from windows xp, and it said setup cannot find installed hard disk....then there only button is restart. What does it mean.

You probably need to set hard drive mode in the BIOS to ATA or Legacy before installing XP. Windows 7 and XP will have the same gaming performance, 7 would be better as it has support for latest DirectX versions and has better security, as long as the computer itself is not slow.
