my computer is 3 years old, and as a cpu e3400 dual core and was operating a 32 bit system win7. I have upgraded to win 7 ultimate 64 bit. and put in 16 gig of corsair ram, when I turned the computer on I got a high pitch noise, turn off put old ram back in works ok, takes a while to start up but runs perfectly. done this a couple of times, same thing happens I have been told that this might be a voltage issue so need to change it in bois, but don't know how, also that 4 gig of ram is all the motherboard will take, and it dosent matter if I run 64 bit operating system, or my cpu is capatible for 16 gig of ram any advise please

You will have to check the specs for your motherboard. Most older motherboards will not support more than 4gb. Some will support 8gb. Does your system use DDR2 or DDR3 ram. If it's DDR2, Many wont support more than 4gb.

Open start and type dxdiag in the searchbox, open it and look in the first tab=system at the systemmodel for your motherboard, above it you;ll find the manufacturer.
