How can I stop Windows Update trying to install IE11? It does this every time I shut down the PC. The update history says it's been successful each time, but IE remains on IE9. I am happy using Chrome and don't want IE11, but at the next shut down it happens again. I don't really want to shut off Auto Update as I will never remember to check for other security stuff. Any advice appreciated, thanks.

Hi
Microsoft have a fix to stop ie 10 and also ie 11 updates
Which should stop the update trying

It might be better to find a fix for why ie 10 or ie11 update is not working
A ms fixit may help

Fixit is a range of repair programs for common windows problems
Make sure you get them from Microsoft to avoide hacked versions

Thanks for the reply. Not being very technical I don't understand what 'hide the update' means. Can you clarify? I have tried disabling IE features, that didn't seem to make any difference. The only other option I think of is to turn off auto-updating in Windows Update but I don't really want to do that as I could miss important security issues. I just want Windows to stop trying to force IE11 on me!

I had a look at Fixit on microsoft.com but couldn't find anything that addresses this problem. Can you point me at that their solution?
